the GIE of motorcycle cabsin Kolaboui helps create local jobs

The Groupement d’Intérêt Économique (GIE) de Kolaboui has taken a new step in our development by acquiring 6 new motorcycle cabs. We were behind the creation of the GIE in 2021, and on this occasion we organized an official ceremony to celebrate the Group’s success.

For the past two years, the Kolaboui motorcycle cab MSE has been generating new economic prospects for all local communities. Supported by our initiative, this is a project with a strong social impact. The initial aim of the GIE, structured around an 8-member committee, was for part of the revenue generated by the motorcycle cabs to be saved for reinvestment in the acquisition of 10 additional motorcycles.

GIE vice-president Bah Tahirou thanks our support and is delighted with the acquisition of the 6 new motorcycles. He said: “We’re delighted to be able to continue developing our motorcycle cab business. These 6 new motorcycles will enable us to cover the 16 districts of the Kolaboui sub-prefecture, making it easier for more people to get around. It’s a real source of pride to be able to contribute in this way to mobility in the region.”

In collaboration with a community relay and a local councillor, GIE members also decided to mobilize part of their funds to create the Union Sous-Préfectorale des Entrepreneurs de Kolaboui (USPEK). Today, this construction company is recognized for its expertise and the scope of its projects. USPEK won a major tender for the construction of 32 housing units. This call for tenders, part of the Agence Nationale d’Aménagement des Infrastructures Minières (ANAIM) project to create a 340-unit housing estate in Kolaboui, was launched by SOCOP BTP, which is responsible for all the work.

With this bold and judicious decision, GIE members have not only diversified their activities, but also optimized the impact of the project we launched. They have opened up new prospects for local youth while establishing a new source of income.

Mohamed Bennani, Managing Director of UMS, is delighted : ” UMS is very proud to be associated with this ceremony, which demonstrates the solid partnership between our Group and the communities of Kolabougni. We support the Guinean people in a virtuous logic, so that they can autonomously pursue the activities necessary for local economic development, the source of new job opportunities. “

Fadi Wazni, Chairman of the UMS Board of Directors, also recalls : ” The creation of this motorcycle cab MSE in Kolaboui testifies to UMS Africa Group’s unwavering commitment to implementing its CSR and sustainable development objectives. For our Group, it means actively participating in the economic and social progress of the Boké region, and supporting Guinean youth in their economic empowerment. “
