Conakry, March 19 – We, the Alteo Group delegation led by Mr. Fadi WAZNI, President of the UMS Group, had the honor of being received by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, in the presence of certain members of his cabinet. We announced our intention to start construction of an alumina refinery in the Boké region, and asked for his support in making the necessary administrative adjustments before work actually got underway.

The refinery project will have a production capacity of 1,000,000 tonnes of alumina per year from start-up. Despite the project’s requirements in terms of skilled labor, we are committed to training engineers and technicians in Guinea while the refinery is under construction. We would like to emphasize that for us, training engineers means contributing to development.

The plant and its facilities will be powered by liquefied natural gas. The launch of this project will mark a decisive turning point in the process of local industrial transformation of the country’s mining resources.
