Call for donations for the Dispensaire-Maternité Saint Gabriel de Matoto and the Africamy Association

We are launching an appeal for donations to support two organizations committed to improving the living conditions of the most disadvantaged: the Dispensaire-Maternité Saint Gabriel de Matoto and the Africamy association, actively working for health and education.

As the rainy season approaches, access to healthcare becomes even more difficult for these already vulnerable populations. To meet this urgent need, we need to support these two organizations.

Maternity clinic Saint Gabriel de Matoto

Since 1987, this faith-based primary care center has been committed to quality of welcome, honesty, efficiency and fraternal teamwork.

The dispensary provides the most disadvantaged Guinean population with access to quality care in dignified conditions, with fixed rates of 15,000 GNF for children and 35,000 GNF for adults, including consultation, advice on good hygiene practices and nutrition, laboratory tests and access to medicines.

With 60% of paediatric consultations, the dispensary sees up to 600 people a day, depending on the period. In 2022, over 135,000 Guineans came to the dispensary for treatment, and more than 1,200 women gave birth there. According to a report, 91% of moderately malnourished children treated at Saint Gabriel were cured by 2022.

The dispensary also has a maternity ward, an emergency room, a pharmacy for dispensing medicines and a laboratory.

The dispensary, whose running costs are largely covered by donations and voluntary work, needs continuity of support. The ever-increasing cost of drugs makes it difficult to balance the budget year after year.

It’s against this backdrop that we’ve been supporting the Saint Gabriel de Matoto dispensary for over 5 years, with a wide range of financial and material initiatives.

Association Africamy

Since 2014, the Africamy association has been organizing solidarity actions every year, mainly in remote areas of Guinea, to combat illiteracy, medical insecurity and precarious health.

The team, made up exclusively of volunteer professionals, includes an obstetrician-gynecologist, an operating room nurse, a dental surgeon, a dental practice installation specialist, an optician and a librarian.

The Africamy association is also an active partner of the Saint Gabriel dispensary in Matoto.

In 2022, in collaboration with the GUINEE Ô association, a fully-equipped dental bus was delivered to the Labé hospital. An optician dedicated to the Labé region also works for three weeks a year.

This year, the association transported, installed and provided training in the use of three dental surgeries and gynecological equipment in several areas of Guinée forestière (Gueckedou, Macenta, N’Zerekore, Goueke, Kerema). Generators were also provided by the association to ensure the smooth running of the hospital structures.

These actions have been made possible thanks to the support of loyal partners such as the SMB-Winning Consortium, of which UMS is a member, and the Wazni Foundation, who have contributed to the success of these operations through invaluable logistical and financial support.

We appeal to your generosity to help these populations in difficulty. We’re convinced that donations of any size will make a huge difference. Your contribution will directly help save lives and improve the quality of life of children and families in need.

We thank you in advance for your support in this urgent humanitarian mission.
